The Canterbury printer Omicron Repro has received active support from customers, despite initial concerns about the name of the latest Covid variant.

Kent Online reported yesterday (November 29) that the owner of the company "feeled unbelievable when they realized that their company had the same name as the latest coronavirus."

But general manager Mark Fawcett-Jones told Printweek today that customers have been very active and the company's work has not been reduced because of this.

"As soon as I heard about the new variant, I thought,'Oh, no.' I was very shocked and worried-we don't want it to have a bad effect on us, because we have only just begun to re-start ourselves since the pandemic began, Our feet.

"Then I started to receive negative news from friends, but my Instagram colleagues received news from our customers, and they were all positive. So I hope this will not hurt us."

He added that the company's customers have been distressed by the name for years, often spelling it wrong in their emails, "but now they know what it is!".

Fawcett-Jones originally owned a company called Plan Xpress, but acquired Omicron Reprographics from its retired Greek owner in 2008 and decided to retain the brand, although it was slightly changed to Omicron Repro and the Plan Xpress name Use it in phases instead.

Fawcett-Jones and director Dave Loveridge were photographed wearing Breaking Bad clothing outside the company premises, but Fawcett-Jones emphasized that the company did not try to make fun of this situation.

"This is a serious matter, and it is also a worrying moment for a new variant-we are all scared of it and worried about where it will take us-but we just think maybe There was a smile on some people’s faces."

Omicron Repro focuses on same-day printing, including business cards, flyers, brochures and signs, and serves a wide range of customers, including the large student base in Canterbury, which has two universities and a large number of architecture students.

The eight-employee company runs HP Latex and DesignJet T3500 wide-format printers, Konica Minolta digital presses, and Summa paper cutters internally.

Today (November 30) at 4 am, England took new measures to deal with the emergence of the Omicron variant, which is considered to be more infectious than other strains, but there are still question marks about its possible impact on existing vaccines .

It is mandatory to wear face masks again in shops and public transportation. All international arrivals must undergo PCR testing on day 2 and self-quarantine until they receive a negative test, and all contacts of suspected Omicron cases must self-quarantine, regardless of It is their age or vaccination status.

JCVI said yesterday that the booster vaccination program has been extended to all people aged 18-39, and the interval between the second vaccination and booster vaccination has been shortened to three months.

It is now also recommended that all people between the ages of 12 and 15 receive a second dose of Pfizer vaccine no earlier than 12 weeks after the first dose.

The government described these measures as "temporary and preventive measures" and will be reviewed within three weeks.
